How links work
Every ↗ button goes through our own address first. We count the click and send you on. If the store works with an affiliate network we take part in, the click passes through that network, which records it so a commission can be attributed; otherwise it goes directly to the store’s page. You pay the same either way.
- Our link counts the click
- Affiliate network records it, if the store has a programme
- The store’s site where you buy, if you do
We pass the address of the sale page on to the network. Whether the network opens that page or the store’s home page depends on the network.
Networks
We earn through affiliate networks that pay a commission on purchases made after a click. Which network, if any, handles a click depends on the store and on your country. Your email address is never sent to them.
How ranking works
On the home page and in categories, stores are ordered by whether they sell to your market, whether they keep a sale section and not only an outlet, the size of the store in our catalogue, how many people follow it and how many clicks it got in the last 30 days. Whether we can earn from a store plays no part there.
In search results for a phrase, the score also gives stores we can earn from a small, fixed boost: 4% of the score. The rest is how well the store matches your words, its categories and meaning, whether it keeps a sale section and sells to your market, and how many people follow it.
No store can pay for its position.
What we don’t do
We do not sell positions, badges or reviews. We do not show discount sizes, prices or timers. We do not hide a store because we cannot earn from it.
