The cookies we set
| Cookie | What it does | How long | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| wos_sid | A random identifier. It is set when you follow a store, sign in or join the list — so your follows survive between visits — or when you accept optional cookies, so your visits can be linked to the stores you open. It contains no personal data and is signed so it cannot be altered. | 365 d | Essential for follows, otherwise optional |
| whatsonsale-session | Keeps you signed in and protects forms against cross-site submission. | 2 h | Essential |
| XSRF-TOKEN | A copy of the form-protection token that the page’s own scripts send back with each form, so no other site can submit one in your name. | 2 h | Essential |
| wos_consent | Remembers your answer to the cookie banner, so it is not asked on every page. | 365 d | Essential |
| lang, country | Remembers the language and country you picked, if you pick one. | 365 d | Preference |
| Personalised ranking | Remembers which categories of store you look at, so stores like them come up higher. Kept on our server against the session identifier. Off unless you accept. | 90 d | Optional |
The light or dark theme is not a cookie: your browser keeps it in its own local storage, and it is never sent to us.
Cookies after you leave
When you open a store through one of our links, you leave whatsonsale.ai. The affiliate network that records the click and the store itself may set their own cookies on their own sites. Their cookie policies apply there; we cannot see or control those cookies.
